DAY 4 — Fruitfulness Brings Glory to God
John 15:7–8 (NIV) “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
Focus Thought: Jesus reveals the ultimate purpose of fruitfulness: the Father's glory.
Fruit is never meant to draw attention to the branch. It reveals the vine's health and life. This protects us from one of the great dangers of success: believing the fruit belongs to us.
When God uses you, blesses your ministry, grows your influence, answers your prayers, prospers something you are doing, or allows you to impact another person's life, remember where the life came from.
The branch carries the fruit, but the Vine produces it. Hosting His Presence keeps us conscious of the Source. Fruitfulness therefore should produce humility rather than pride. The more God accomplishes through us, the more grateful we should become. Our prayer becomes: “Father, thank You for allowing my life to carry something that reveals You.”
Jesus also connects fruitfulness with discipleship: “showing yourselves to be my disciples.” A fruitful life becomes evidence that we belong to Him.
People should encounter something of Jesus through us. They should experience His love through our compassion, His generosity through our giving, His patience through our responses, His truth through our words, and His grace through our relationships.
The question, therefore, is not simply, “Am I successful?” Ask instead: “Does my life make Jesus visible?” That is true fruitfulness. Never make fruit your identity. Jesus is your identity. Never make success your source. Jesus is your Source. Remain in Him, allow His life to flow through you, and then return every honour to Him. Fruitfulness is not about making our name greater. It is about making His goodness visible.
Action for Today: Thank God specifically for areas of spiritual growth rather than focusing only on achievements.
Reflective Question: How did your life bring glory to God today?
Prayer: Father, let every good thing produced through my life point people back to You. Amen.
Journal Prompt: Does my fruit point people to Jesus?
