DAY 6 — Obedience Blesses Others
Isaiah 1:18–20 (NIV) “‘Come now, let us settle the matter,’ says the LORD. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.’ For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
Focus Thought: We often think about obedience as something between ourselves and God. But obedience rarely affects only us. Your yes to God can bless someone else.
Think of Noah. His obedience preserved his family. Abraham's obedience became connected to blessing for nations. Joseph's faithfulness eventually provided food during famine. Mary's surrendered response—“I am the Lord's servant”—became part of God's redemptive plan.
One person's obedience can influence generations. You may never fully understand who is affected by the decisions you make today. Your obedience in your marriage affects your family. Your integrity at work influences colleagues. Your generosity may meet someone else's need. Your decision to forgive can stop bitterness passing to another generation. Your willingness to serve can create an opportunity for someone to encounter Jesus.
Hosting His Presence means becoming available for God's purposes beyond our personal comfort. Sometimes He prompts us to do something that seems small: send a message, pray for someone, give something away, encourage a discouraged person, invite someone to church, make a phone call, apologise, or simply stop and listen. What feels like a small act of obedience to you may become a significant moment in someone else's life. This is why delayed obedience matters. Someone else may be connected to your yes.
Glad obedience therefore moves us away from the question, “What will I get from this?” Instead we ask: “Lord, who could be blessed because I obey You?”
Your obedience carries influence. When God speaks, respond faithfully. Your yes may become the answer to someone else's prayer.
Action for Today: Encourage another person through a practical act of obedience.
Reflective Question: Who was affected positively by your obedience today?
Prayer: Lord, use my obedience to bring life and blessing to others. Make my yes available for Your purposes. Amen.
Journal Prompt: Who could be blessed by my obedience?
