Walk the Walk
Learning to walk the walk and talk the talk is about the crucial work of creating alignment between what we say and what we do.
1 John 3:18 (NIV) “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
3 John 1:4 (NIV) “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
“The best example of leadership is leadership by example.” –Jerry McClain “Setting an example is not the main means of influencing others, it is the only means.” –Albert Einstein
“The difference between a boss and a leader is that a boss says, ‘Go!’ while a leader says, ‘Let’s go!’” –E. M. Kelly
“Nothing so conclusively proves a man’s ability to lead others as what he does from day to day to lead himself.” –Thomas J. Watson
“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” – John Maxwell
Walking the walk is about taking responsibility, it is about doing your job to the best of your ability. When we walk the walk, we gain instant credibility because authenticity is built in the follow-through and in the promises kept. There is nothing that builds trust more quickly than a someone who keeps his word. In contrast, there is nothing that destroys trust more quickly than a someone who makes promises that they can’t deliver on.
Proverbs 11:3 (NIV) “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity”.
1 Thessalonians 2:12 “so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.”
Colossians 1:10 “so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God”
Ecclesiastes 5:4-7 (NIV) “When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. 5 It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it. 6 Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, “My vow was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands? 7 Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God.
