DAY 3 — Obedience Aligns You with God’s Will

Romans 12:1–2 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Focus Thought: Many believers ask, “How can I know God's will?” Romans 12 gives us an important answer. Knowing God's will is connected with surrender and a renewed mind. God does not merely want to give us instructions. He wants to transform the way we think until our desires increasingly align with His. Before transformation, we often approach decisions by asking, “What do I want?” As our minds are renewed, the question begins changing: “Lord, what do You want?” This is the journey of glad obedience.

God's will stops feeling like an interruption to our plans and begins becoming the desire of our hearts. Psalm 40:8 captures it beautifully: “I desire to do your will, my God.” That is spiritual maturity.

Hosting His Presence allows God to shape our internal world—our thoughts, motives, priorities, ambitions, and desires. The more time we spend with Him, the more we begin wanting what He wants. This does not happen overnight. Our minds continually need renewal through Scripture, prayer, worship, and obedience. Every act of obedience trains the heart.

When God says forgive and you forgive, your heart aligns further with His. When He says give and you give, your values align with His. When He calls you to serve and you serve, your priorities become more Kingdom-centred. Eventually obedience becomes less about constantly fighting God and more about walking with Him.

Ask Him today: “Father, don't merely show me Your will. Change me until I love Your will.” That is joyful surrender. God's goal is not merely that you know His will, but that His will increasingly becomes your desire.

Action for Today: Ask God to align one personal desire with His will.

Reflective Question: What desire or priority is God beginning to change in you?

Prayer: Father, renew my mind and align my desires with Yours. Teach me to love what You love. Amen.

Journal Prompt: Where do my desires need alignment?
