DAY 3 — Revival Requires Surrender

Romans 12:1 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Focus Thought: Throughout Scripture, sacrifice and fire are closely connected. Something had to be placed on the altar. Paul takes this Old Testament picture and makes it deeply personal: “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice.”

The altar is no longer merely a physical location. Our lives become the offering. Revival cannot flourish where we continually negotiate with God about what He may have. We cannot pray, “Lord, take everything,” while quietly protecting certain areas from His leadership. Revival requires surrender. Surrender says, “Jesus, my life belongs to You. My plans belong to You. My future belongs to You. My relationships, resources, ambitions, gifts, time, and desires belong to You.”

This does not mean God removes everything we enjoy. It means everything comes under His lordship. Hosting His Presence requires an open-handed life. Sometimes we want God's fire without God's altar. We want His power without surrender. We want His Presence without obedience. But genuine revival brings us back to the lordship of Jesus.

Ask yourself today: Is there anything I am still withholding from God? Perhaps it is a relationship, decision, habit, ambition, disappointment, or area where you insist on remaining in control. Place it on the altar. A surrendered life creates room for God to work without continual resistance. Revival does not begin when we convince God to give us more of Himself. It begins when we become willing to give all of ourselves to Him.

Let today's prayer become simple: “Lord, here I am. Everything I am belongs to You.”

Action for Today: Identify one area you have been controlling and deliberately surrender it to God.

Reflective Question: How did surrender change your heart today?

Prayer: Lord, I place my life before You again. Take every area and use me for Your glory. Amen.

Journal Prompt: What do I still need to surrender?
